Right now, 28 of our activists, a photographer and a videographer
are accused of hooliganism in Russia for a peaceful protest against oil drilling
in the fragile Arctic.
Their crime? Fighting to protect the Arctic from
an oil spill.
Please sign the petition to to the Russian Ambassador in
London and demand that all charges are dropped and the 28 activists and two
freelancers immediately freed to go home to their families.

The ship had been
part of a peaceful protest against energy giant Gazprom which is poised to drill
for the first oil to come out of the icy waters of the Arctic. The Arctic
Sunrise was circling Gazprom’s Prirazlomnaya platform inside international
waters and outside the jurisdiction of Russian authorities, making the boarding
of the ship unlawful.
The crew were held under armed guard for five days
whilst the ship was towed to shore. Once there, the 30 people on board were
remanded in custody for two months and subsequently charged with piracy and
hooliganism by a court in Murmansk. After spending two months in prison, all 30
were granted release on bail.
The charges of piracy and hooliganism are
extreme and disproportionate. Yet these are the charges being made against all
30. They made their stand in the interests of us all. Now we must come together
and stand with them.
Please sign this urgent petition to the Russian
Ambassador in London. Let’s free the Arctic 30 for good and bring them home
now.
