This is huge!

Manfred,

This is huge!

I'll be honest, when we started our palm oil campaign this year we weren't sure we could get the largest palm oil trader on earth to move. But, after 1.3 million people took action, Wilmar announced that it will:
  • Map all of its palm oil suppliers
  • Use satellites to monitor them
  • Suspend any suppliers that destroy forests
This could change the industry forever and break the link between deforestation and palm oil - but we need to make sure Wilmar puts its plan into action.

Manfred, will you share this news and let Wilmar know that you're watching?

The whole palm oil industry has been feeling the heat.

In the past three months 20 murals popped up in 20 cities, we occupied Wilmar's refinery in Indonesia, 120 volunteer groups took to the streets and we boarded a tanker ship carrying Wilmar's palm oil products.

Around the world people told the makers of Oreo, one of Wilmar's big name customers, to drop the palm oil giant unless they changed their ways. In London we took the fight and the forest to Oreo's HQ with an orangutan leading the way.

Wilmar and the palm oil industry couldn't ignore us anymore and this week the palm oil giant launched a groundbreaking plan.

Manfred, this is great news for forests - but only if Wilmar puts this plan into action in 2019. We'll be watching them, show them you will be too.

Brands and traders promised to clean up their supply chains by 2020. With less than 400 days to go, companies are still failing across the board. Time is running out: Wilmar needs to put its promises into action and other palm oil companies need to follow its lead. If that happens, it would be the beginning of the end for deforestation for palm oil.

This is not over by any means. Greenpeace will be watching closely to make sure Wilmar delivers. If it starts to slip at any point, we'll be ready.

Thank you for being part of this momentous campaign to protect the rainforest. Without your support this simply would not have happened.

In 2019 - let's hold Wilmar to its word.

Let's do this,

Nick Monro aka Dikson
