Hi Manfred,
Have you heard the news? We have another battle in the fight against
glyphosate! Greens/EFA members in the European Parliament have
challenged the European Food and Safety Authority (EFSA) before the European
Court of Justice, for its refusal to provide the public with access to
crucial studies regarding the impact of glyphosate on our health. This is what
happens when thousands of citizens across Europe, including people like you,
come together to take action!
This Thursday at 14.30 CET, they will finally have to publicly defend
their position. And guess who supports the EFSA in this court case...
Of course, Monsanto and Cheminova! The same companies that own the key
scientific studies used by EFSA to decide whether glyphosate should be sold in
Europe. There is an inherent conflict of interest in the fact that the
same companies with an interest in selling their products are the ones that are
also responsible for doing the scientific studies to prove that their products
are safe. These studies should not be kept secret by EFSA.
In the past, citizens across the EU have shown that they don’t shy away from
anyone, whether they are our European leaders or companies like Monsanto and
Cheminova. But in order for our voices to have more impact, we need to
intensify our support in this fight: we have 24 hours to show how
many European citizens stand against glyphosate - and against secret industry
studies on glyphosate. We have to do that before the
hearing takes place.
Watch and share our great documentary about it (and of course, we
can build much more awareness about this topic, when more people watch
it!)
If you want to know about the outcomes of the hearing, join our
debrief via Facebook live on Thursday at
17:00 CET.
Thank you so much!
Fernando and all of us in the Tilt team.
Ps: The Greens/EFA Members of Parliament have been successful in bringing
this case to the EU Court because you and many other Europeans raised your
voices against glyphosate and this makes us powerful. Join and share
your thoughts with many other EU citizens during our debrief via Facebook live
