Hey there, I’ve emailed the government asking them to take action to reduce single-use plastic! It takes 30 seconds – can you do it too? https://secure.greenpeace.org.uk/plastic-consult-share-em Plastic pollution is everywhere. Each year up to 12 million tonnes of plastic enters our oceans, eaten by fish, eaten by seabirds and even finding its way into sea salt – to be eaten by us. Single-use plastic is a huge part of the problem, something we use for 2 minutes shouldn’t be made from a material that takes hundreds of years to break down. But now the government have opened a consultation on how taxes, charges or bans can be used to stem the tide of plastic pollution. Plastic pollution is a hot topic issue, and the government has bowed to public pressure on plastics before. Over the last couple of years, they’ve introduced the plastic bag charge, a ban on microbeads and recently the government have indicated their intention to introduce a deposit return scheme. The momentum is with us, and we have an opportunity to create new landmark laws to take a significant step in reducing our plastic waste. Can you join me and email the government and tell them to take action to reduce single-use plastics? It takes 30 seconds! https://secure.greenpeace.org.uk/plastic-consult-share-em Thank you! Manfred |
