Dear
Manfred,
What a year it’s been for animals!
In 2015, you sent
more than 2.3 million messages to decision makers, shared 1.3 million times on
social media and spent over 1,300 hours on the phone with legislators, agencies
and corporations -- all to demand better care and protection for animals. You’re
our hero, and theirs!
Watch this inspiring video that showcases the accomplishments your
tremendous support helped achieve for animals in 2015»
This year was our
highest impact year ever.
The biggest names in the food industry -- like
Walmart, McDonald's, Starbucks and Panera -- are no longer going to confine or
cage animals in their supply chain.
All chimpanzees are now listed as
endangered under U.S. law, effectively ending invasive experiments on
chimpanzees in this country.
Ringling Bros. committed to ending its use
of elephants in circuses.
The European Union closed its border to
products of the commercial Canadian seal slaughter, and the number of seals
killed was reduced by 90 percent.
Manfred, these landmark changes for animals could not have
happened without you, and animals need your continued support in 2016 to keep
this up. Will you make a special gift to ensure progress for animals doesn't end
here?
This year was huge for wildlife. Washington voters approved a
ballot measure to end the trafficking of ten endangered species, California
banned the trade in rhino horn and elephant ivory and the U.S. and China both
made commitments to end the trade in ivory. After the killing of Cecil the
African lion, we got more than 40 airlines to agree to stop shipping lion
trophies and other big game into the U.S. or anywhere across the world.
And it doesn't stop there. Together, with our affiliates, we’ve been on
the ground as the number one provider of animal care and rescue in the world.
Our teams are there to respond when animals are in need -- whether it’s
responding to Hurricane Joaquin in South Carolina, or helping with spay and
neuter programs, developing anti-cruelty laws and training law enforcement in
Puerto Rico.
In 2016 and the years to come, we’ll lead the charge on so
many issues that I know are important to you. Can animals count on you?
From the bottom of my heart,
thank you for everything you do for all animals.
Sincerely,
Wayne Pacelle, President & CEO |
