Hi Manfred,

Hundreds of thousands of people across the world, like you and me, recently stood with the Indonesian people to demand an end to catastrophic forest fires.

And now, we made sure Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo heard this global call for forest protection. The 250,000-strong emergency petition was delivered to Widodo last week, in front of other world leaders at the big climate talks in Paris.

Meanwhile Greenpeace volunteers are in the heart of Indonesian Borneo’s precious rainforest, taking bold action to end forest fires and destruction. Volunteers and villagers have come together to construct a dam to keep the forest and peatlands wet, preventing fires from reigniting.

For months, forest fires raged across Indonesia. Both people and orang-utans were endangered as the flames spread and a thick, choking haze swept across Southeast Asia.

These forest fires are a legacy of decades of destruction by palm oil and paper companies. Despite 'no deforestation' promises from companies, forests are still being trashed.

That’s why local people and Greenpeace activists are taking forest protection into their own hands - with innovative actions like this to stop the next fire crisis.

Share this video on Facebook to spread the word about this amazing climate action, or forward this email to your friends.

Together we can stop forest destruction for good. I’ll be in touch next year with more ways you can help protect rainforests.

Thanks for everything you do,
Danielle
