Hi Manfred,
Good news! Just a
few days ago, the European
Parliament voted, by a large majority, in favour of establishing an Animal
Transport Inquiry Committee.
When we started our battle, some said
it would be an impossible feat.
But they were wrong.
Such a dedicated Committee of Inquiry is a key instrument for investigating
violations of animal suffering during their transportation, and for making
Member States held accountable.
It also represents a useful tool to
advance legislative proposals that will improve the current European
legal framework on animal transport.
This is good news, partly achieved
thanks to the tenacity of more than 23,863 Tilt
members who signed our petition to ensure animal welfare during
transport.
Manfred, after months of fighting
back the animal production lobby, we have achieved this first important step,
but our battle to achieve full animal welfare and health protection for
all of us is still long overdue.
We can only achieve it if we keep
working together hand in hand. Will you sign
our petition demanding higher animal welfare
standards?
