Did you watch the EU Presidential debate
yesterday?
If you didn't, all you need to know is that debate made one
thing very clear: these elections are the climate elections.
Our plan to make #VoteForClimate a major trending hashtag worked! It was obvious
that #VoteforClimate, #Greenwave and #Greens were top issues of the night even
without our help.
People are going to be voting for the climate because
we want urgent action now. For the Tilt community, it's always been
clear that the solutions are there. Leading Candidate for the Greens Ska
Keller even named it during the debate. To tackle climate change with social
justice we need a European Green New Deal. Right now we lack the political will.
That's why we need to make these elections about the climate
and We
Climate change is occurring as a result of our economic system. A
system based on environmentally destructive profiteering and consumption that
pushes the earth beyond its ecological limits. Food, clean water and air have
become commodities instead of a human right.
With a European Green New Deal, we can drastically change this. This
election we need it to be clear that our economy needs to serve people and
planet before profit. With a Green New Deal we could enforce strong
economic reforms that divest from dirty coal. An economy that works towards 100%
renewables. An economy that focuses on environmental sustainability and quality
of life, rather than maximising production.
These elections need to tackle climate change. For our planet. For you.
For me. For us.
