European Court of Justice has
rejected mega corporation Bayer's attempt to overturn the bee-killing pesticide
ban
Hey Manfred,
I wanted to write to you quickly and
share some amazing news for our buzzing ๐๐ friends: today the European
Court of Justice has rejected mega corporation Bayer's attempt to overturn the
bee-killing pesticide ban [1].
In practice, the Court ruled that the
European Commission was right to
ban the use of three bee-killing neonicotinoid pesticides
(imidacloprid, clothianidin and thiamethoxam) and rejected Bayer plans to profit
off of threatening our future.
This is huge and good news
for bees, for the environment and for the health of us all.
It means that people's health and the
protection of nature prevailed over corporate profits, and the EU has the
responsibility and obligation to ensure our safety from hazardous
pesticides.
Manfred, you are one of the over
450,000 people who signed the European Citizen Initiative petition to ban these
hazardous pesticides.
I want to thank you for all
your support! Our Tilt community will keep on fighting hard to get all
harmful pesticides banned. But for now, let's
take a breath and enjoy this great victory!
Fernando on behalf of the Tilt
team
PS: We rely on bees to pollinate
three-quarters of the world’s crops - and we wouldn’t last long without them.
[2] That’s why we need to make sure all toxic pesticides stay off our
fields for good. Please, help us share our ECI petition with 3
friends.
